Picked high on Mount Emei in the first days of spring and finished as flat, upright needles the colour and shape of young bamboo leaves — they stand on end in a tall glass as they sink. The taste is the cleanest in our green range: fresh snow pea, a milky sweetness through the middle, and a cooling, almost mineral finish with no bitterness at all. The most expensive green tea we stock, and the one to brew when you want someone to watch the leaves.
In Chinese this is written 竹叶青 and pronounced zhú yè qīng.
